Native Meats Hosts First Farm Day at Sharon Rose Farm
2009-08-08

Greer, SC - On Saturday, August 8th Native Meats hosted their first Farm Day at Sharon Rose Farm in Woodruff, SC. Featuring live music, games and entertainment, the event drew attendees from all parts of the Upstate. Central to the day were tours of the working farm that focuses on "righteous farming." A term coined by Rollie Knoke, owner of Sharon Rose Farm, righteous farming refers to farming practices that respect nature's ways and the environment. The practices also dictate humane treatment of the livestock.

"We're farming the way God intended," says Knoke. "By respecting creation we are able to harvest from the land without damaging it. What we get is healthier animals without drugs and better tasting meat," he added.

Native Meats was on hand for sales of the meats grown on local, family farms. With Sharon Rose Farm as the model, Native Meats provides a strict protocol for local suppliers. The result is locally raised chicken, pork, lamb and beef that are antibiotic-free, steroid-free, hormone-free and pasture-raised.

Also in attendance were several other farmers from the farms that supply Native Meats. The farmers were warmly greeted by the farm day participants. Each farmer was introduced and had a chance to discuss their farms with many of the visitors.

Native Meats plans additional Farm Day events in the future.
